Peter Blake (né en 1932) est resté constant et novateur dans son exploration du médium du collage tout au long de sa carrière s’étendant sur sept décennies. Plus connu pour sa reprise emblématique de 1967 pour l’album Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band des Beatles, Blake comprenait déjà le potentiel du collage en tant que forme d’art en tant qu’étudiant au Royal College of Art dans les années 1950, où sa réputation de fondateur et de partisan clé du mouvement Pop Art a été établie. Collectionneur passionné, les collages de Blake combinent des trésors de junkyard et des objets trouvés avec des images de la culture populaire. Il revisite des thèmes tirés de son enfance - les divertissements du cirque, le glamour du cinéma et le sens du spectacle du ring de lutte - en tissant des récits détaillés, souvent humoristiques. Most recognised for his iconic 1967 cover for The Beatles' Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band album, Blake already understood the potential of collage as an art form as a student at the Royal College of Art in the 1950s, where his reputation as a founder and key proponent of the Pop Art movement was established. An avid collector, Blake's collages combine junkyard treasures and found objects with images from popular culture. He revisits themes drawn from his childhood - the entertainments of the circus, the glamour of the cinema and the showmanship of the wrestling ring - weaving detailed, often humorous narratives. Nieuw werk van kunstenaar Karl Meersman becommentarieerd door Wouter Deprez Karl Meersman, bekend van zijn spotprenten in Trends en Knack Focus, en comedian Wouter Deprez slaan de handen in elkaar. Terwijl je in deze publicatie het nieuwe werk van Karl ontdekt, becommentarieert Wouter Deprez het. Al snel merk je dat Karl een volledig andere richting is ingeslagen.
