Der zweisprachige Sammelband vereinigt zum Teil bahnbrechende Ergebnisse einer interdisziplinären Forschungstagung, deren Beiträge sozial-, wirtschafts-, kultur- und kirchengeschichtliche Aspekte der Frühneuzeit im Karpatenbogen aufgreifen. Basierend auf vielfach erstmals ausgewerteten Quellen bearbeiten die Beiträge aktuelle Fragestellungen und Forschungshorizonte zur Interdependenz von sozialen, ökonomischen, kulturellen und religiösen Phänomenen im Karpatenbogen der Frühen Neuzeit, in dem die Osmanen der international dominante politische Faktor wurden. Transformationsprozesse wurden angestoßen durch Bevölkerungs- und Militärbewegungen, ökonomische, politische und religiös-mentale Umwälzungen, die zwischen opportunistischer Anpassung und rebellierendem Widerstand oszillierten und entsprechende politische Maßnahmen und Gegenreaktionen hervorriefen. Dabei wird die bislang geltende Forschungsmeinung zur Toleranzgeschichte Siebenbürgens in Frage gestellt und völlig neu bewertet.

"En France, certains observateurs du catholicisme parlent d'un déclin inéluctable, quitte à placer cette religion "en phase terminale". Cependant, dans un contexte de crise globale liée à la postmodernité, il semble que la religion catholique n'ait pas dit son dernier mot. Ce travail de recherche analyse la trajectoire du catholicisme (1980-2016), par l'étude de ses acteurs, de ses territoires et de ses communautés, des modes de gouvernement épiscopaux. Il veut s'attarder à l'intérieur d'espaces qui ne possèdent plus la relative homogénéité que l'histoire leur prêtait avant le XXe siècle, mais qui offrent aujourd'hui une nouvelle "géocatholisation" des pratiques pastorales. Les formes de militantisme type Action catholique se dé/recomposent et laissent leur place à des mouvements et des communautés postconciliaires (Renouveau charismatique. traditionalistes...) qui se polarisent par leurs paroisses, leurs sanctuaires, leurs prieurés et leurs chapelles. Un catholicisme à la sensibilité plus classique voire traditionnelle, dans le sillage des papes Jean-Paul II et Benoît XVI, façonne de nouvelles figures de prêtres et d'évêques qui arbitrent sur les modes d'action pastoraux territorialisée. L'intérêt de cet ouvrage est de dessiner une nouvelle carte religieuse, celle d'un catholicisme "attestataire" dynamique et vivant en cours de polarisation, au risque d'une "injustice spatiale" rejetant aux périphéries groupes de fidèles et territoires enclavés."--Page 4 de la couverture.

The knowledge about the figure of royal confessor has been, until recent times, very limited for the period of medieval Castile. A lot of studies have been done for Modern Age, when the institution of the kinǵs confessor played an important role in the Court of the Hispanic Crown. It is evident that this figure didńt appear ex nihilo in the Sixteenth Century and there existed some origins. Many historians mentioned some medieval confessors in their studies about any other subjects. Actually, it was not clear if those clerics could be properly considered as confessors. Our first aim has been to find all the references which exist in the sources and bibliography about kinǵs confessors in the Middle Ages and verify their nature as confessors. We fixed the beginning of the period of study with the reign of Enrique II, and its end with the death of Isabel I in 1504. The main reason is the fact that both sovereigns are the first and last monarchs of Trastamara dinasty, a very significant period in the origin of Modern State in Castile. The Church was an essential element in this process, on account of the service which many clerics enlisted to the Crown in different tasks (diplomacy, bureaucracy, Counsel and Counselling, etc.) and their ideological support to this endeavour. In this context, the royal confessor could perform an important work as personal advisor and a loyal subject to the person of the king in so many activities. This is well-known for Modern Age and also fort the reign of transition between this period and the precedent: the period of Catholic Kings. But it isńt for the times backwards ...

Against the background of ongoing research on the diversity of social environments during the Early Roman Empire, this volume focuses on various early Christian 'worlds' as they appear in canonical and non-canonical writings. How did Early Christians experience 'rural' and 'urban' life? How did they react to them? Starting with methodological reflections on urbanity and early Christian beginnings, special attention is devoted to the Jesus-tradition. In what sense did the perception of Jesus, the 'Galilean village Jew', change when his message was carried into the cities of the Mediterranean world from Jerusalem to Athens or Rome? Subsequent articles deal with various personalities or literary works whose attitudes towards urban life shaped nascent Christianity. In 18 interdisciplinary articles the book explores the great diversity of local Christian milieus in their Mediterranean contexts and demonstrates the wide range of Christian cultural perspectives. --
