Holzbauten werden heute dank leistungsfähiger Verbundkonstruktionen aus Holz und Stahl oder Beton weit jenseits der Hochhausgrenze errichtet. Ein Ende des Höhenwachstums ist kaum absehbar. Auch im Wohnungs- und Bürobau, bei Sporthallen, Industriebauten und Brücken sind Holzkonstruktionen auf dem Vormarsch. Sie gelten als Inbegriff nachhaltigen Bauens und sind durch neue, rationelle Vorfertigungsverfahren auch in puncto Baukosten wettbewerbsfähig. Das Buch „Natur + Struktur – Holztragwerke“ zeigt die aktuelle Entwicklung der Tragwerksplanung mit Holz anhand von rund 20 herausragenden Ingenieurbauten. An der Planung beteiligte Ingenieure beschreiben die Konzeption der Tragwerke sowie individuelle Lösungen für ihre Realisierung. Fachbeiträge aus Forschung und Technik runden das Werk ab. "La cabane ou le feu ? " : en 1969, le critique Reyner Banham définit l'architecture comme une stratégie double liée à un milieu, et l'illustre par l'histoire d'une tribu qui "arriverait au soir dans un campement bien approvisionné en bois".
