"This book examines the role of artists in Egypt during the 2011 revolution, when street art from graffiti to political murals became ubiquitous facets of revolutionary spaces. Through interviews, personal testimonies, and accounts of the lived experience of 25 street artists, the book explores the meaning of art in revolutionary political contexts, specifically by focusing on artistic production during 'liminal' moments as the events of the Egyptian revolution unfolded. The author privileges the perspective of the actors themselves to examine the ways that artists reacted to events and conceived of their art as means to further the goals of the revolution. Based on fieldwork conducted in the years since 2011, the book provides a narrative of Egyptian artists' participation in and representations of the revolution, from hopeful beginnings to the subsequent crackdown and election of al-Sisi" --

"Weseretkau "Mighty of Kas" honors the life and career of Professor Cathleen "Candy" Keller, a truly extraordinary teacher, scholar, Egyptologist, and polymath. The contributors to this volume were Professor Keller's students, friends, and colleagues. Though much of the research presented here centers around the honoree's two primary passions-Egyptian art and the study of the village of Deir el-Medina-the range of topics reflects her broad Egyptological interests, including religious organization, artistic technique, museum collections, textual analyses, historical events, and archaeological studies at sites throughout Egypt"

The 'Woman at the Window' Came from Egypt investigates the origin of ivory plaques found in the Assyrian palaces of Nimrud and Khorsabad from the first millennium BCE. It provides a completely new interpretation of the famous iconography of the 'Woman at the Window'. This collection of ivories, traditionally labelled as 'Phoenician', is thought to have originated from locations across the Levant. However, the Egyptian Nile Delta appears to be a more accurate locale. Pharaohs of the Third Intermediate Period, especially those of the 25th dynasty, may have commissioned them to help legitimise their fragile positions.
