The cradle-to-grave and cradle-to-cradle techniques of life cycle assessment make it possible to analyze the environmental impacts of products associated with natural resource acquisition, purchasing, production, services, assembly, distribution, and use and recycling from raw material extraction to waste management. This book offers a selection of chapters that explain the impact of green supply chain solutions on value-making chains. It is designed to help students at all levels as well as managers and researchers to understand and appreciate the concept, design, and implementation of life cycle assessment.

Mary Mellor examines money's social, political and commercial histories to debunk longstanding myths such as money being in short supply and needing to come from somewhere. She sets out a new finance system, based on green and feminist concerns, to bring radical change for social good.

Due to rapid economic growth and enhancing employment opportunities, manufacturing and infrastructural projects play a vital role, especially in developing nations. Even though voluminous literature is available on environmental impact assessment (EIA), guidelines on conducting good quality assessments are lacking. It may be recognized that good EIA reports can only facilitate government decision making with sustainability considerations. The book is the result of the review of more than 150 EIA reports and the analysis of shortcomings observed by the author. It will serve to bridge the gap in the limited understanding of EIA concepts by practitioners and practical aspects by fresh graduates. The book describes the output and salient features of a good quality EIA report and case studies to facilitate professionals preparing and appraising these reports. It will be of immense use to environment ministries, EIA practitioners, EIA appraisal authorities, project proponents, academics, and NGOs, especially in the emerging economies.

This book provides a comprehensive and authoritative review of recent developments in bio-based packaging materials along with an array of their industrial applications. It offers an interdisciplinary approach, combining food engineering, polymer science, materials science, and sustainable aspects of bio-based materials with their synthesis, properties, characterization, and applications in packaging materials. The book encloses chapters covering fundamental concepts, manufacturing, properties, characterization, and interaction of bio-based materials. It also discusses topics related to the different usage of bio-based materials, their environmental impact, regulations, safety aspects, circular economy, challenges, and opportunities allied to bio-based materials. It is an essential resource for academicians, researchers, students, and professionals interested in exploring the potential bio-based materials in food packaging.

"There are various environmental and legal challenges arising from offshore renewable energy activities which were not foreseen at the time of the negotiation of the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS). This book explores how unclos has evolved to adapt to these new challenges through legal mechanisms and examines what gaps may remain and how they should be filled. The book highlights the process of normative reinforcement in the regulation of offshore renewable energy activities whilst maintaining the fundamental balance of interests between the coastal State and other States"--

Each chapter of this volume describes the application of a population model to a particular species. The book shows how various life history characteristics of the species are incorporated into the model, how ecotoxicological impacts are modeled, and how the results of the model has been or can be used in risk assessment.

This book introduces various mathematical models used in ecological risk assessment, primarily discussing models used in hazard assessment. The book aims to link ecology and conservation biology with risk assessments, bringing together the knowledge of ecotoxicology and ecology for effective risk assessment. The first part describes population-level assessment in ecological risk assessment. The chapters cover current methodologies for ecological risk assessment, individual-level assessment, population dynamics models for population-level assessment, case studies, mathematical models for population extinctions, the derivation of mean time to extinction (MTE) and their case studies. The second part of the book discusses the mathematical models involved in hazard assessments. It introduces the method of risk assessment using species sensitivity distributions (SSDs), hazard assessment of metals, chemical mixtures using the Michaelis-Menten equation, basic elements of statistics and related topics. Expected readers are risk assessors in governments and public sectors, students and young researchers interested in environmental science. The book is made accessible and easy to follow by beginners in mathematical biology and theoretical ecology.
