Plastic and reconstructive surgery has a broad spectrum of different reconstructive techniques, including split skin transplantation and local and free flaps. By means of microsurgery and perforator flaps, every reconstructive issue can be addressed by tailored techniques. Flaps can comprise different tissues and can be designed using new imaging technologies in order to increase the safety of the procedures and to retain the form and function of the reconstructed area in accordance with the donor site morbidity. This Special Issue of the Journal of Personalized Medicine focuses on the following topics: Individualized microsurgery; Flap imaging; Customized perforator flaps; Monitoring flap perfusion; Tailored tissue engineering for reconstruction; Biofabrication applications in personalized plastic and reconstructive surgery.

This book describes the plethora of all procedures in Body Contouring. It descibes their advantages and disadvantages and provides an overview of possible complications and how to avoid and deal with them when they occur. The work explains when and why to choose one procedure instead of another or combine the treatment of different adjacent areas in one and/or different techniques to achieve more favourable results in contouring these areas. New combinations are presented on how to combine different non-invasive or minimally invasive and surgical body contouring procedures in just one surgical procedure for the benefit of the patient. The author presents an algorithm for online - interviewing patients in times of COVID to help assess which type of procedure can lead to the fewest side effects and best possible results, and which type of treatment to choose depending on BMI and extent of weight loss. These chapters will likely find an audience among plastic and bariatric surgeons.

"Cosmetic surgery was once associated with a one-size-fits-all approach, modifying patients to conform to a single standard of beauty. As it has become more accessible worldwide, changing beauty trends have led to a proliferation of beauty standards for members of different racial groups. Alka V. Menon takes us inside the world of cosmetic surgeons, journeying from a sprawling convention center in Kyoto to boutique clinics in the multicultural countries of the United States and Malaysia. She shows how surgeons generate and apply knowledge using racial categories and how this process is affected by transnational clinical and economic exchanges. Surgeons not only measure and organize but also elaborate upon racial differences in a globalized field of medicine. Focusing on the role of cosmetic surgeons as gatekeepers and producers of desired appearances, Refashioning Race argues that cosmetic surgeons literally reshape race--both on patients' bodies and at the broader level of culture"--
