Voici le dernier rapport brûlant de la CIA sur les défis cruciaux qui nous attendent. Si la guerre en Ukraine et la posture offensive de la Russie qui ne cesse d'agiter l'épouvantail nucléaire et multiplie les cyberattaques semblent constituer les principales menaces de déstabilisation mondiale, la communauté du renseignement américain s'inquiète au premier chef de la Chine, de son incroyable course à l'armement et aux technologies, des conflits futurs qu'elle prépare méthodiquement. La CIA pointe ainsi la possible invasion de Taïwan. Mais elle se penche également sur les autres poudrières de la planète : le rôle néfaste de l'Iran qui tente d'élargir son influence sur les régions du Golfe, la folie paranoïaque de la Corée du Nord. Le rapport s'attache à décrire les nouvelles formes de guerre : le réchauffement climatique qui bouleverse puissamment les États et les populations, notre fragilité face à l'introduction d'un nouvel agent pathogène susceptible d'entraîner une pandémie dévastatrice, le défi de la criminalité organisée. La CIA brosse le portrait d'un monde chaotique, mais ses informations confidentielles et inédites nous permettent d'ouvrir les yeux avant qu'il ne soit trop tard.

So marginal die Beschäftigung mit der chinesischen Dichtung für die deutsche Lyrikgeschichte seit dem 20. Jahrhundert zunächst zu sein scheint, so zentral erweist sie sich doch gerade in politisch-gesellschaftlichen und werkbiographischen Umbruchskonstellationen. Der Band geht verschiedenen Lyrikdialogen, die ihren Ausgangspunkt in der übersetzerischen Auseinandersetzung nehmen, nach. Texte der klassischen Dichtung der Tang- und Song-Dynastie wurden ebenso aufgegriffen wie Dichtungen des 20. und 21. Jahrhunderts. Die Annäherung an die chinesische Dichtung ermöglichte ästhetische Experimente mit lyrischer Subjektivität und Perspektivität einerseits; andererseits bot sie Raum für Aushandlungen von Welt- und Gesellschaftsentwürfen und der Rolle des Dichters in der Gesellschaft - so im Dialog mit der sozialkritischen Lyrik des Tang-Dichters Bai Juyi, des Dichterrevolutionärs Mao Zedong oder des Skeptikers Lu Xun. Und nicht zuletzt waren Übersetzungen ein kulturpolitisches Instrument in der DDR, konnten aber offizielle Leitlinien durchaus unterlaufen. Damit ermöglicht die Analyse der Übertragungen in ihrem jeweils konkreten historischen Kontext Einblicke in Impulse einer produktiven Rezeption, die die letzten hundert Jahre deutsche Lyrikgeschichte mitgeprägt hat. Das Werk wurde ausgezeichnet mit dem "Manfred-Lautenschläger-Preis der Heidelberger Akademie der Wissenschaften" und dem "Gerhart-Baumann-Preis für interdisziplinäre Literaturwissenschaft". The study of Chinese poetry has provided numerous German poets with opportunities to explore aesthetic approaches and to sound out social and political positions. Historische Gebäude, Kunstwerke und Sammlungen sind im 21. Jahrhundert nirgendwo mehr lästige Überreste von früher, wie in den Modernisierungsschüben des 19. Jahrhunderts oder noch in den 1950er und 1960er Jahren. Heute sind sie sorgfältig gehütete und mit hohem Aufwand in Schuss erhaltene Schätze: unersetzliche Materialisierungen kollektiver Selbstbilder, nationales Erbe und kostbare Ressourcen touristischer Vermarktung zugleich. Deshalb müssen sie um jeden Preis erhalten und, falls durch einen Unglücksfall beschädigt, um jeden Preis wiederhergestellt werden. Zur üblichen Selbstbeschreibung des 21. Historische Erinnerungsstätten und Museen können offensichtlich viele Formen annehmen, vom Tempel bis zum Supermarkt, vom Reliquienschrein bis zum Bunker. Sie sind Schutzräume, Zeitkapseln und Sanatorien, Kliniken zur Behandlung von Phantomschmerzen. Wovor versprechen sie ihren Besuchern Schutz? In the 21st century, historical buildings, works of art and collections are far from being tiresome remains of the past, like they were in the modernisation boosts of the 19th century or even still in the 1950s and 1960s. Today, they are meticulously guarded and elaborately upkept treasures: irreplaceable materialisations of collective self-images, national heritage and at the same time, valuable resources of touristic commercialisation. Hence, they have to be preserved at any cost and - when damaged in an accident - have to be restored at all costs. This notion correlates with the 21st century's self-description as innovative and future-oriented in a way that needs explanation. Frozen Times explores these paradoxes with a series of on-site visits in institutions that allow us to survey the past, from Vienna to Weimar and Zurich. Historical memorial sites and museums can obviously take many forms, from a temple to a supermarket, from a relic shrine to a bunker.
