This book examines the often-overlooked role of women in the Welsh coal mining industry from the early 19th century to the early 20th century. It explores their contributions and challenges, including working conditions and societal perceptions, as well as the impact of legislation that reduced their presence in the workforce. The book provides a detailed account of female labor in an industry traditionally dominated by men, addressing issues of gender and labor rights. It is intended for students and scholars of labor history, gender studies, and Welsh history, offering a comprehensive analysis of women's labor in coal mining through historical records and personal accounts.

This is a book which challenges received understandings of the place of the miner in contemporary British history, arguing that the British coal miners went through a cyclical movement - from loser to winner and back again - as Britain underwent a de-industrial revolution in the final decades of the 20th-century.

"This book tells of the booms and busts with coal in the Navajo Nation. It utilizes a documentation of indigenous contestation over extractive industries in a time of climate change, energy nationalism, and in a post-welfare economy. It is about tribal sovereignty and the meaning of work and cultural survival for the Navajo Nation in the twenty first century"--

This book targets to earth scientists and engineers, in particular students, researchers, managers, and practitioners, who are interested in mining engineering, environmental engineering, green coal mining, sustainable water resource management, and effective measures to balance mine safety and ecological conservation. In the disciplines of mine hydrogeology and mining engineering, there have always been difficulties in the theoretical interpretation of the changes in the physical and hydraulic characteristics of water resisting strata during coal seam mining. In the past 10 years, the authors studied the relevant contents by using the methods of physical simulation, numerical simulation, field test and mining practice of similar materials, so as to understand the internal relationship between the stratigraphic sedimentary characteristics of the mining area and the occurrence mechanism of mine water disaster. On the premise of analyzing and studying the stratigraphic sedimentary environment in the mining area in detail, it is of great significance for the realization of "coal water" dual resource mining in the mining area to divide the types of roof water disaster in the mining area and study the formation mechanism of mine water disaster caused by different rock formation combinations and mining methods.
