Introduction: The bachelor’s Degree in Psychomotor Skills is not recognized as a paramedical profession in Belgium which restricts the actions of psychomotor therapists. Psychomotor skills are not defined in the Belgian law, even though the bachelor Degree was created in 2012 for different reasons (standardization of the profession, answer the needs and demands of the population, etc) and is recognized by the French Community and complies with the European norms. There are also conflicts concerning the range of actions of psychomotor therapists and other health professionals who can exercise them. Material and methods: Two populations were studied: the management boards of the 127 certified hospital sites listed in the Walloon Region and in the Brussels-Capital region and the people practicing psychomotor skills within these certified hospitals in the Walloon Region and in the Brussels-Capital region. Each population had to fill in a questionnaire (two all in all, one for each population). The study was carried out by e-mail, but also by post and via an online survey. Résults: Concerning the management boards: the main obstacle to the employment of psychomotor therapists is the lack of recognition of psychomotor skills as a paramedical practice at a rate of 75.61%. For 84.62% of the boards, psychomotor skills add value to hospitals, even though only 34.48% of the participating hospitals have psychomotor skills activities, mainly in pediatric andpedopsychiatric services. Among psychomotor therapists, 37.04% of the surveyed people (other than bachelor Degrees in Psychomotor Skills) think that the recognition of psychomotor skills as a paramedical profession will put other health professions at risk, in and out of hospitals, but 96.30% think that psychomotor skills are complementary to other professions. Conclusion: Within the 96.43% of the psychomotor therapists who participated in the survey, only 40.74% (full-time and part-time job) are employed only to practice theirpsychomotor skills and more than half of them need to refer patients to other psychomotor therapists. There are not many ways to take care of the population, except for lateral troubles. So, there is room in hospitals for psychomotor therapists because the demand for them is high.
