Der Übergang von der Schule ins Arbeitsleben verläuft in Deutschland bemerkenswert reibungslos. Ein vortrefflich ausgebautes Berufsbildungssystem gestattet es jungen Menschen, gut vorbereitet in den Arbeitsmarkt zu gehen und Arbeitsplätze zu finden, die ihren Qualifikationen entsprechen. Die berufliche Bildung des sogenannten Sekundarbereichs II, die in Deutschland vor allem durch das duale System geprägt ist, schafft ein solides Fundament für spätere Weiterqualifizierung, insbesondere durch die postsekundäre berufliche Bildung. Mit einem Teil dieser fortgeschrittenen beruflichen Ausbildung – nämlich mit Fachschulen und Fortbildungsgängen wie etwa zum Meister – beschäftigt sich die jüngste Länderanalyse der OECD.

O livro traz texto de apresentação, onde se explicita como a temática se tornou objeto de estudo e trabalho destas duas profissionais, seguido de uma introdução em que se discutem educação, exclusão social, direitos humanos, a realidade das pessoas com deficiência e o papel da escola neste cenário. Um capítulo de Contextualização conceitua as ideias de deficiência, inclusão versus integração, educação inclusiva e formação do professor. Depois, o capítulo Refletindo sobre a educação inclusiva apresenta a psicologia histórico-cultural de Vygotsky e as contribuições da psicanálise. Análise da inclusão na prática faz um delineamento da pesquisa e discute qualificação e problematização da inclusão no cotidiano escolar, a atuação e a formação do professor, os paradoxos e sentimentos despertados pela convivência.
