Afin de stimuler et de soutenir la coordination de la qualité et de la sécurité des patients dans les hôpitaux belges, un financement supplémentaire est approuvé depuis juillet 2007 dans la sous-partie B4 du budget des moyens financiers. Pour lannée de contrat 2008-2009, il sagit dun budget de 7,2 millions deuros. Un budget est réparti entre les 91 % (n = 185) des hôpitaux aigus, psychiatriques et Sp ayant signé un contrat avec lautorité fédérale, et dans lequel lhôpital sengage à mettre en uvre des améliorations dans le domaine de la qualité et de la sécurité des patients, structurées autour de trois piliers. Ces piliers consistent en un système de gestion de la sécurité des patients, des processus et des indicateurs. Les trois piliers forment la base dun plan pluriannuel dans lequel de nouveaux éléments à élaborer chaque année sont présentés aux hôpitaux.Après la partie introductive, le premier chapitre est consacré aux résultats du pilier 1 concernant le développement dun système de gestion de la sécurité (SGS) sont présentés. Dans le deuxième chapitre, le pilier 2 est traité, notamment sur la façon dont les hôpitaux ont révisé leurs processus de soins. Dans le troisième chapitre sont décrits les résultats du pilier 3, qui a trait aux indicateurs utilisés par les hôpitaux en 2008-2009 pour piloter la qualité et la sécurité des patients. Le quatrième chapitre présente le plan de soutien offert aux hôpitaux et, dans un cinquième chapitre, sont abordées les orientations pour lavenir élaborées par lautorité fédérale concernant la qualité et la sécurité des patients.
