Middle East and Mediterranean region locates at a crossroad of global climatic patterns. The region is under the influence of a convergence of different maritime conditions which together with extensive adjacent land masses marked by extreme differences in topographical features transporting continental air masses lead to a diverse climate. This edited volume is based on the best papers accepted for presentation during the 1st Springer Conference of the Arabian Journal of Geosciences (CAJG-1), Tunisia 2018. The Southern Andes, stretching from the subtropics to the subantarctic, are ideally located for palaeoenvironmental research. Over the broad and continuous latitudinal extent of the cordillera (-24˚), vegetation is adjusted to climatic gradients and atmospheric circulation patterns. The aim of this atlas is to present summarised information and to illustrate comprehensively the shell morphology and structure of the majority of recorded Sphagnum-dwelling testate amoebae in Bulgaria (a total of 120 species, each of them illustrated with 9 LM and SEM photos). Since most of these species appear to be widely distributed in Europe, as well as in many other regions of the world, the atlas may be of interest to all researchers on testate amoebae and can also be used by specialists in ecology, hydrobiology, palaeoecology and environmental monitoring.

Les changements environnementaux s'inscrivent dans une histoire plurimillénaire d'évolutions (climats, végétation, sols, systèmes d'érosion, faune) intimement liée à celle de l'Homme qui a peu à peu modifié la biosphère. Pour les comprendre, il faut reconstituer les milieux naturels du passé et les activités humaines susceptibles de les avoir transformés. Cet ouvrage présente ces méthodes et ces techniques d'étude des paléoenvironnements. Il s'adresse aux étudiants de géographie, d'histoire, d'archéologie, des sciences de la vie et de la Terre intéressés par l'histoire des milieux naturels au cours des 25 000 dernières années dans leurs relations avec les changements bioclimatiques et le développement de l'emprise des sociétés humaines.
