Abstract

Genetic counselling is the process of determining the occurrence of a genetic disorder within a family and of providing appropriate information and advice about the courses of action that are available. It is clear that patient education on genetic disorders will be provided not only by genetic counsellors, but by a variety of health care providers, including physicians, nurses, and public health care professionals. This text should act as a reference text to genetic counsellors and their students.
