Abstract

Now in a fully revised and expanded second edition, this practical text presents the current state of the art and latest advancements in the biomechanics, assessment, diagnosis and management of UCL injury in the elbow. In the years since this book’s initial publication, significant developments have occurred on multiple fronts relating to elbow UCL injury, including injury prevention, less invasive repair techniques, more anatomical surgical reconstructions, and improved post-injury rehabilitation protocols. Chapters are once again arranged thematically, beginning with discussion of the relevant anatomy and surgical approaches, throwing biomechanics and overload mechanisms, epidemiology, history and physical exam. After a description of the radiological approaches to assessment, both conservative and surgical strategies are outlined and discussed in detail, from repair both with and without augmentation to reconstruction both arthroscopically and with newer minimally invasive techniques. Considerations for UCL injury in special populations – the young athlete and the female athlete – and sports-specific rehabilitation, return-to-play and prevention via wearable technology round out this thorough presentation. Enhanced with select video clips illustrating surgical techniques, Elbow Ulnar Collateral Ligament Injury, Second Edition remains a go-to resource for orthopedic surgeons, sports medicine specialists, therapists and trainers who work with athletes that suffer from these conditions.

Abstract

Bringing together the top elbow surgeons from around the world, this contemporary, up-to-date text presents surgical tips and techniques for the most common elbow procedures. Because authorship will be limited to leaders in the field, the emphasis will be on practical tips and techniques that can readily be implemented in the clinical and surgical environment. This text covers approximately 50 of the most common elbow surgical procedures, which are further subdivided into the following five categories: Trauma, Degenerative, Arthroscopy, Sports, and Neurologic. The focus of each chapter is on describing the precise clinical and surgical techniques used by the experts in each of these areas. Each chapter highlights a specific procedure and benefits from a consistent chapter approach: Description, Principles, Indications, Contraindications, Procedural Steps, Handling Difficulties, and Bailout and Salvage options. Given the international representation of the editors and authors, Tips and Techniques in Elbow Surgery will appeal to a very wide audience and will be of benefit to any surgeon who treats elbow injuries.

Abstract

"Rotator cuff disorders are the most common cause of shoulder pain, accounting for up to 70% of cases. Tears are the most severe subtype, with a lifetime prevalence rate of more than 20%. The size, location, and severity of rotator cuff tears varies greatly, requiring equally diverse preoperative planning and surgical interventions. Video Atlas of Arthroscopic Rotator Cuff Repair by Uma Srikumaran and esteemed contributors provides a concise, well-rounded perspective on the surgical management of rotator cuff pathologies. Expert surgeons from across the globe describe and demonstrate numerous approaches, enabling clinicians to expand their armamentarium and achieve optimal outcomes. The opening chapters lay a solid foundation, covering basic techniques for arthroscopic repair of various rotator cuff tear patterns, patient positioning, portal placement, tips and tricks, complications, and pitfalls. Subsequent chapters succinctly discuss a comprehensive range of arthroscopic and transosseous techniques, biologic augmentation, grafting, tendon transfers, and superior capsular reconstruction"--
