ABSTRACT: This thesis explores the suitability and efficacy of risk analysis and management courses, focusing on decision-making. The objective was to investigate decision-making aspects within risk analysis courses. Theoretical risk management strategies, without practical implementation, are deemed useless (Emblemsvåg & Endre Kjølstad, 2006). The aim was to assess the frequency and adequacy of decision-making elements in these courses. A systematic review of 43 syllabi demonstrated strong support for incorporating additional decision-making elements into risk analysis and management courses. Additionally, the study revealed a deficiency in quantitative curriculum and a lack of emphasis on active learning within the courses. Critical enhancements for the adequacy of decision-making components in the course include dedicated modules specifically focused on decision-making, a balance of quantitative and qualitative curriculum, and emphasizing participatory education methods.

The literature review provides an overview of the greenwashing phenomenon and will include insight into B corporations and the certification process as well as an overview on the B corporations “movement" and explores the topic of greenwashing as a whole while additionally investigating what B corporations are and what they do differently from their non-certified conventional counterparts. Sustainability and transparency are of the utmost importance to certified B corporations, and the rigorous standards set by the B lab certifier ensures that the company is in compliance with certain goals and objectives. Certified B corporations should be taking an active approach on preventing greenwashing in their products as the for-profit companies are obliged to make decisions with their workers, customers, suppliers, community and the environment in mind.
