Aan de hand van basisbegrippen als waarde, rol, comfortzone, betekenis en context legt auteur Patrick Janssen uit wat cultuur eigenlijk is. Interculturele competenties gaat in op de ontstaansgeschiedenis van culturen en geeft handreikingen hoe de verschillen te begrijpen en in te kaderen zijn. Tevens worden enkele definities zoals stereotypering en culturele identiteit behandeld. Verder worden in het boek theoretische modellen aangereikt om verschillen in landenculturen inzichtbaar te maken zoals het model van Hofstede en van Lewis. (1966) works as a writer, trainer, teacher and coach. He trains and coaches multicultural, international teams, individuals and young, starting entrepreneurs with his company Greybeard (greybeard.eu). He also works as a teacher and developer for cross-cultural communication at TIO (university of applied sciences) in Amsterdam.
