Abstract

Die Verkehrsnachfrage privater Haushalte hat sich in den letzten Jahrzehnten stark verändert. Dies gilt gleichermaßen für die private Motorisierung und die Verkehrsmittelnutzung wie für die zurückgelegten Wegelängen, die Aktionsräume und Zeitstrukturen. Einerseits haben räumliche Entwicklungen zu diesen Veränderungen beigetragen, etwa die Suburbanisierung und regionale Dekonzentration von Haushalten und Unternehmen. Andererseits ist der soziale Wandel in vielerlei Hinsicht eng mit der Verkehrsentwicklung verknüpft. Das Buch untersucht Verkehr und Wohnstandortwahl im Kontext von Lebenslagen, Lebensstilen und residenzieller Selbstselektion.
