Abstract

This book constructs a feminist Aristotelian-Thomistic approach to issues of sex and gender. It examines notions of body and community, postmodernism (particularly in Foucault), intercultural dialogue, parenthood, and reproductive technology. It pays special attention to how these issues concern women's equality and sexual meaning.

Abstract

The theses of this article are: (1) We need to give special attention to the ways in which the experience of marriage in the 20th c. West is similar to or different from that experience in other cultures and times; (2) these similarities and differences should have implications for normative Catholic teaching; (3) we need a critical integration of our views of the marital relation of husband and wife with the social context of marriage in family and in society.
