Abstract

Vingt et un projets de maison sont présentés dans ce volume consacré à l'architecture solaire et bioclimatique. Ils ont un point commun : celui d'avoir été conçus pour un site donné, sur un côteau ensoleillé de la petite ville de Veynes, dans le département des Hautes Alpes. Il s'agit donc là d'une démarche, et c'est son originalité, qui a amené les organisateurs du concours à proposer à la réflexion d'architectes et d'héliothermiciens de tenir compte d'abord, avec toutes les données du climat de cette région, de l'environnement d'une petite ville de moyenne montagne et des traditions de son habitat ancien, et de tenter de concilier le respect de ce site avec les apports d'une technique de pointe.

Abstract

Advanced new technologies and sophisticated planning systems for architecture beyond the age of fossile fuels. In the very near future energy-efficient building will be the rule rather than the exception. Insulating glazing, multi-functional facades and organic solar cells are examples of important new developments in the field of solar thermal technology, photo-voltaics, heating and ventilation technology which are suitable for a wide range of uses from large-scale urban-planning projects to individual single family houses, and can make significant contributions to the conservation of natural resources in sustainable building. Carefully selected articles provide information on planning methods and techniques which will enable the user to assess and apply appropriate measures. Abstract

Photovoltaics is one of the most promising technologies for global energy production in the context of the energy crisis and climate change.Photovoltaic modules are now available in such a wide range of forms that nearly all of the usual fl at parts of buildings can be provided with photovoltaic capabilities. In addition to producing energy, these modules offer a number of synergistic effects, since increasingly they are integrated as glazing elements and can perform such other functions as weather protection, solar control, and providing privacy. Special modules such as solar roofing tiles and solar membranes are available for particular applications.This book explains the technology, presents the available products, and communicates clearly how they are used in buildings, with a particular focus on large-scale buildings.It provides architects with all of the necessary know-how to provide a new or existing building with a photovoltaic system, covering both planning and implementation.Last but not least, it is a valuable practical instrument to prepare for communicating with the relevant manufacturers and clients.
