Als eines der ersten Lander Europas entwickelte Finnland 1998 eine offizielle Architekturpolitik, in der die Baukulturelle Bildung eine prominente Stellung einnahm, und gilt seitdem als unangefochtener Vorreiter in diesen Bereichen. Erklartes Ziel war es, die Architektur systematischer ins Schulsystem, in die Curricula der Lehramtsstudiengange und in die Erwachsenenbildung zu integrieren. Im Rahmen einer Feldstudie ist Turit Frobe in Gesprachen mit unterschiedlichen Experten der Frage nachgegangen, wie erfolgreich die international rezipierte finnische Architekturpolitik ist. Ist es gelungen, die Baukulturelle Bildung im Bildungssystem zu verankern? Welche Voraussetzungen waren dafur notwendig? Welche Strukturen sind geschaffen worden? Und ist es moglich, aus den finnischen Erfahrungen Empfehlungen fur Lander wie Deutschland abzuleiten? Finland is the undisputed pioneer in architectural education. In 1998, it was one of the first countries in Europe to develop an official architectural policy, the declared aim of which was to more systematically integrate architecture into the educational system, teacher training programs at universities, and adult education. In her field study, Turit Frobe spoke with various experts to get a picture of just how successful this internationally acclaimed Finnish architectural policy has been. Has it succeeded in anchoring architectural education in the education system? What conditions did this require? What structures were created to do so? And is it possible to derive recommendations from Finnish experience for countries such as Germany?

The relevance of religious and political practices at the Royal Sites of the different kingdoms that composed the Spanish Monarchy, in the consolidation of the image and power of the Spanish kings. Institutions under royal control included not only the king's royal residences and the royal chapels attached to them, but also magnificent convent-palaces and individual monasteries belonging to specific religious orders with close affiliations to the Spanish Crown. These Spanish Royal Sites, a diverse global network that helped to shape the Spanish Monarchy politically and socially in the seventeenth century, extended across the different kingdoms of the Iberian Peninsula and beyond to other territories in Europe, America and Asia under Spanish rule. The religious practices that occurred there were an essential aspect of studying the justification of power, the pre-eminence of (ecclesiastical and temporal) institutions and, in the case of the Spanish Monarchy, its relations with the Holy See. This volume brings together scholars from various humanities disciplines, opening up novel avenues of research for studying the organization of royal institutions in the different kingdoms of the Habsburg Spanish Monarchy, especially in questions related to religion and royal piety. Particular attention is paid to the under-researched area of Royal Sites in Catalonia, Valencia, Portugal, Sardinia and the Viceroyalty of Peru.
