Die Besonderheit des Buches liegt darin, dass der Autor den Mut aufgebracht hat, auf einen vollständigen synthetischen Aufbau der angesprochenen Geometrien zugunsten von Querverbindungen zwischen ihnen zu verzichten. Um den Rahmen des Buches nicht zu sprengen und die Übersicht zu wahren, werden Beweise dann geführt, wenn es sich um zentrale Sätze handelt oder wenn typische Vorgehensweisen verdeutlicht werden können. Der Autor Jürgen Wagner ist Diplomlehrer für Physik und Mathematik und verfügt über umfangreiche Unterrichtserfahrungen in Physik, Mathematik, Astronomie und Informatik. Während seiner Tätigkeit als Referent für Mathematik am Sächsischen Bildungsinstitut war er Mitautor und Herausgeber mehrerer Handreichungen für Mathematiklehrer am Gymnasium sowie Mitglied in bzw. Leiter von länderübergreifenden Expertengruppen.
