Eetproblemen kunnen opduiken op verschillende leeftijden gedurende de ontwikkeling van kleuter tot adolescent. Ze kunnen zowel medische als psychosociale gevolgen met zich meebrengen. Hoewel het wetenschappelijk onderzoek binnen dit domein het laatste decennium is toegenomen, zijn er nog veel onduidelijkheden en misvattingen met betrekking tot deze problematiek, zowel bij de betrokken gezinnen als bij hulpverleners.Dit boek kwam tot stand in samenwerking met het kenniscentrum Eetexpert en combineert recente wetenschappelijke bevindingen met praktijkgerichte handvatten. Zo verkleint het de bestaande kloof tussen wetenschappelijk onderzoek en de klinische praktijk. Het eerste deel van dit boek schetst verschillende eetproblemen in de huidige maatschappelijke context. Vervolgens gaan de auteurs dieper in op belangrijke signalen en richtlijnen voor diagnostiek en behandeling van eetproblemen, zowel bij kleuters, lagere schoolkinderen als jongvolwassenen. Op deze manier biedt dit boek een leidraad voor wie in zijn of haar praktijk of gezin in contact komt met kinderen die het moeilijk hebben op het vlak van eten, gewicht en lichaam.
