Abstract

Care is the most important thing for life, since to model life we need to care for ourselves, for the others, and for the human institutions. Care is the most important ontological phenomenon because we are what we care for. It is essential to care for life in order to maintain it along time, to make it flourish and to repair the wounds of being-there. This book develops a philosophy of care not only by considering the contemporary literature, but above all by basing the argumentations on the ancient Greek philosophy. Moreover, the argumentations are grounded in a phenomenological analysis of the experience of care. The author Luigina Mortari PhD , is Full Professor at the School of Medicine and member of the Board of Administration of the University of Verona. She is the President of the INDIRE, a national center of research for the educative research.

Abstract

This book brings together a group of top scholars on ethics and moral neuroeducation to cover the specific field of moral learning. Although there are many studies on neural bases of human learning and the application processes in different fields of human activity, such as education, economics or politics, very few of them have delved into the specific field of moral learning. This book brings forward a discursive and cordial ethical concept suitable for the theoretical-practical development of moral neuroeducation, as well as a set of guidelines for the design of an educational model that, based on moral neuroeducation, contributes to the resolution of social problems and the eradication of undesirable patterns and behaviors such as hate speech, corruption, intolerance, nepotism, aporophobia or xenophobia. Furthermore it contains a management approach for the application of this educational model to the different areas of activity involved in social and human development. A must read for students, educators and researchers in the field of moral philosophy, (applied) ethics ethics and any other discipline working with reciprocity (economics, politics, health, etc.).

Abstract

This edited volume—the first book devoted to the topic of contract cheating—brings together the perspectives of leading scholars presenting novel research. Contract cheating describes the outsourcing of students’ assessments to third parties such that the assignments or exams students submit are not their own work. While research in this area has grown over the past five years, the phenomenon has been exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic. Themes addressed in this book include the definition of contract cheating, its prevalence in higher education, and what motivates students to engage in it. Chapter authors also consider various interventions that can be used to address contract cheating’s threat to academic integrity in higher education including: assessment practice, education, detection strategies, policy design, and legal interventions.
