Dynamic artificial light in museums In galleries and museums, one’s perception of art, space, and atmosphere is largely determined by lighting. But which light settings should art and museum experts and exhibition designers choose, and on what basis are those choices made? Pioneering LED technologies make customized lighting scenarios possible, turning artificial light into an interactive material in museum architecture – not only in terms of design practice, but also in terms of real-time spatial experiences. Computer-controlled lighting technologies are breaking boundaries, allowing the individual to take full control of lighting design. Light Up explores the potential of dynamic artificial lighting technologies in museum architecture, offering new insights into the use of light in exhibition spaces. Doch welche Lichteinstellungen sollen von Kunst- und Museumsexpert:innen und Ausstellungsgestalter:innen vorgenommen werden, und wie und auf welcher Basis wird eine Wahl getroffen? Zukunftsweisende LED-Technologien ermöglichen maßgeschneiderte Beleuchtungsszenarien. Kunstlicht wird so zum interaktiven Material in der Museumsarchitektur – nicht nur in der Entwurfspraxis, auch in Echtzeit-Raumerfahrungen. Computergesteuerte Lichttechnologien setzen neue Maßstäbe: Das Individuum entscheidet und übernimmt die Gestaltungshoheit. Light Up ergründet das Potenzial dynamischer Kunstlichttechnologien in der Museumsarchitektur – und eröffnet damit neue Sichtweisen im Umgang mit Licht im Ausstellungsraum. Wie mit LED-Technologien maßgeschneiderte Beleuchtungsszenarien entwickelt werden können Studien im realen Kontext von Kunstinstitutionen und Programmierung interaktiver Lichtsimulationen Dokumentiert das Forschungsprojekt „White Cube Teleporter“

How can the museum of the future look like? This publication deals with the currently strongly changing landscape of museums in Germany and Berlin. The museum complex in Dahlem is the starting point for the explorations of a place that is to be established as a new type of research location in the next few years. To be able to think of such a research campus at a location that is already anchored in the cultural memory of Berliners and has a positive connotation in society presents itself as a unique opportunity, which the department CODE I Design and Building Construction of the TU Berlin together with the foundation Seize Prussian cultural heritage approaches with numerous illustrated design strategies.
