Die Studie von Ivana Puljiz behandelt die Frage, welche Funktion Goldobjekte in den mittel- und spätbronzezeitlichen Staaten Syriens und der Nordlevante hatten, wie sie sich formal und stilistisch entwickelten und wie die Goldassemblagen kontextualisiert und zusammengesetzt waren. Ein Schwerpunkt der Untersuchung liegt auf den Objekten aus der mittelbronzezeitlichen Gruft VII von Qaṭna, die erstmals in umfassender wissenschaftlicher Bearbeitung vorgelegt werden. Zusätzlich werden Goldassemblagen anderer mittel- und spätbronzezeitlicher Fundorte im syrisch-nordlevantinischen Raum in Hinblick auf ihre Zusammensetzung und fundortübergreifende Parallelen untersucht. Kontrastierend dazu werden die Textquellen mit Bezug zu Gold aus dem syrisch-nordlevantinischen Raum detailliert ausgewertet, um ein umfassendes Bild der Verwendung von Goldobjekten in den mittel- und spätbronzezeitlichen Staaten Syriens und der Nordlevante zu erhalten. Im Vordergrund stehen nicht nur die textlich bezeugten Arten von Goldobjekten, sondern auch die Anlässe und Orte, bei und an denen sie verwendet wurden, und die Personen, die die Objekte benutzten. In einem Appendix werden die Ergebnisse der archäometrischen Analysen des Goldes aus Qaṭna präsentiert. Auf diese Weise entsteht eine Gesamtschau der Rolle, Verwendung und Bedeutung von Gold in den syrisch-nordlevantinischen Staaten der Mittleren und Späten Bronzezeit. -- Site de l'éditeur
