Abstract

In "Groene leugens' laat Kathrin Hartmann zien dat consumenten steeds meer doordrongen raken van hun te grote ecologische voetafdruk. Ze kopen steeds vaker hun producten bij bedrijven die milieuvriendelijke beloftes te doen. Maar zijn die bedrijven allemaal wel echt zo milieuvriendelijk? Nou nee. Producenten maken zich schuldig aan "greenwashing'. Ze "doen groen', maar gaan ondertussen door met hun destructieve wijze van produceren. Zo is er het bedrog van BP waarmee het zijn aandeel in de grootste olieramp ter wereld wil verbergen. Of George Clooney, die ons namens Nestlé wil laten geloven dat de cupjes van Nespresso duurzaam gemaakt worden. En de consument? Die wil deze "groene leugens' maar wat graag geloven. Want we willen wel groener leven, zolang we maar niet onze consumptie hoeven aan te passen.Groene leugens is een confronterend boek, maar Kathrin Hartmann geeft haar lezers uiteindelijk ook een optimistische boodschap mee: de wereld verbeteren is zo moeilijk niet, want het begint gewoon bij jezelf.
