This Report on the Observance of Standards and Codes (ROSC) provides a review of Jordan’s data dissemination practices against the IMF’s General Data Dissemination System (GDDS), complemented by an in-depth assessment of quality of national accounts, consumer and producer price indices, and government finance, monetary, and balance-of-payments statistics. The assessment reveals that Jordan participates in the GDDS and meets the recommendations for the coverage, periodicity, and timeliness of most data categories. Jordan’s macroeconomic statistics also broadly meet the periodicity requirements of the SDDS.

Australia’s statistics are of a high quality. Based on the review of its statistical practices, a set of recommendations is presented designed to increase its adherence to internationally accepted statistical practices. The aim of the review is to enhance the usefulness of Australia’s statistics in terms of cross-cutting recommendations, making national accounts series available; a national consumer price index; producer price index; and government finance statistics to include a breakdown of stocks and flows of financial assets and liabilities, monetary statistics, balance of payments, and international investment position statistics.

The Money and Banking Division of the Research Department of the South African Reserve Bank plans to conduct a review of its entire time series database following the implementation of new bank reporting structures in January 2001. This is a time-consuming process, and the release of a comprehensively revised time series structure, incorporating balance-sheet information with a monthly frequency, is not expected before the end of 2003. Review of the composition of “other assets” and “other liabilities” and to reclassify are needed.

This Report on the Observance of Standards and Codes (ROSC) provides a review of Georgia’s data dissemination practices against the IMF’s General Data Dissemination System (GDDS), complemented by an in-depth assessment of the quality of the national accounts, consumer price index, producer price index, government finance, monetary, and balance-of-payments statistics. Georgia has made good progress in improving its statistics in a number of areas. Nonetheless, substantial shortcomings are present in some statistical practices and databases. Some of these shortcomings could be addressed with current resources.

The assessment reveals that the legal framework for statistical activity is broadly adequate, and institutions display a commitment to disseminate macroeconomic statistics, largely through the Internet. However, there is scope to improve the methodological basis and source data underpinning most datasets, as well as the mix and level of resources in a few cases.

Azerbaijan meets and in many cases substantially exceeds the GDDS recommendations on periodicity and timeliness for its macroeconomic statistics. The three main agencies responsible for compiling macroeconomic data have broadly adequate legal powers.

This Report of the Observance of Standards and Codes (ROSC) Data Module provides an assessment of Tajikistan’s macroeconomic statistics against the recommendations of the General Data Dissemination System (GDDS), complemented by an assessment of data quality based on the IMF’s Data Quality Assessment Framework. The assessment reveals that Tajikistan already meets many of the GDDS recommendations for dissemination of macroeconomic statistics. The main exceptions are the coverage of national accounts, central government operations, and central government debt. All data categories meet or exceed the recommended periodicity and timeliness.
