Abstract

In a way, one could describe Mira Sanders (b. 1973) as a discreet yet efficient and critical explorer of the world that surrounds her, who attempts to re-look, re-see, re-discover and re-hear not only things but also beings, as well as the structures by which they are linked and in which they function or are supposed to function. She does so starting from a personal point of view, all while trying to integrate that of the object or the subject observed and analyzed, for the duration of a work or a research. This partially explains the crucial time Mira Sanders devotes to the elaboration of a project. Indeed, at each time this will be preceded by reading, research, notes, sketches, encounters and dialogues, even if the final result – which will be shown in the context of an exhibition or an intervention – often seems sober and simple. This is exactly where the possible ambiguity lies, yet at the same time the tranquil force of an approach often more complex than it seems, while remaining accessible and readable. Abstract

"Under the generic title of Journal of a user of space, Mira Sanders (b. 1973, Brussels) develops a manifold oeuvre on mapping and territory as well as architecture and social space. The network of lines as well as the phyiscal and temporal trajectories of her wanderings, constitutes through her drawings, videos, and installations, a work of fiction inspired by the everyday and the trivial. As an invitation to multiple travels, Inland Voyages in An Inlang Voyage was presented during two exhibitions, at Argos - Center for Art and Media in Brussels in 2016 and at the Musée d'art contemporain de la Haute-Vienne, Château de Rochechouart in 2018."

Abstract

This publication maps spatial experiences/wanderings through the city of Bucharest. Through photography, text, drawing, film and mixes of different media, the authors explore the mapping of (micro) situations witnessed in the city of Bucharest. The use of image and text forms a common thread across the contributions of the different authors: Alina Cristea draws from her research and practice Bucharest. The City with One Inhabitant. The City-Me, Mira Sanders brings in the act of drawing to represent/explore ways of spatial experiences, and Ileana Marin examines the creative power of wandering in the city of Bucharest through a selection of Romanian literary works. The publication does not aim to give an exact representation of Bucharest, rather to make side notes of its city-ness and to what extent the authors’ actions reveal (or not) other features of the city, at a given time in this spatial context.
