Monografija sistematično obravnava antropološki pristop k razumevanju turizma. Pregled antropologije turizma je predstavljen v luči razumevanje turizma kot globalnega pojava, ki je tudi eden izmed kulturno najintimnejših globalnih procesov ter tista oblika globalizacije, s katero bo imelo neposreden stik največ ljudi, bodisi kot turisti bodisi kot gostitelji.

The monograph introduces the concept of work, which is inherent in human being as is play. This concept of work can be understood simultaneously as a powerful means of socialisation and as a disciplining instrument. The author problematizes the dichotomy between play and work as a construct that emerged in the specific historical and geographical context of early industrialization. She introduces the educational value attributed to work and presents how this understanding of work has historically changed through different political and socio-economic circumstances. Drawing on ethnographic studies and theorising from the fields of psychology, sociology, cultural anthropology, and social anthropology, the author analyses why and how preschool children participate in everyday work at home and in kindergarten. The author draws connections between children's participation in work and children's sociality and intersubjectivity as core human capacities as social beings. Preschool children are included as research participants along with adults, and by presenting their perspectives, this volume demonstrates the complexity of social life from an early age. Monografija predstavi koncept dela, ki je tako kot igra lasten človeškemu bitju ter ima hkrati močan socializacijski naboj in lahko predstavlja sredstvo discipliniranja. Ob tem, da problematizira dihotomijo med igro in delom kot konstruktom, ki je plod določenega zgodovinskega in geografskega konteksta, ki izhaja iz zgodnje industrializacije, uvede tudi koncept dela kot vzgojnega ter predstavi, kako se je spreminjal skozi čas glede na različne politične, družbene in ekonomske okoliščine. Na podlagi etnografske raziskave in sodobnih znanstvenih dognanj s področja psihologije, sociologije in kulturne ter socialne antropologije avtorica podaja analizo, zakaj in kako se v vsakdanjem življenju predšolski otroci vključujejo v delovna opravila v okviru družine ter vrtčevske skupine. Vključevanje v delo avtorica naveže na otrokovo sposobnost družbenosti in intersubjektivnosti – ključni komponenti človeka kot družbenega bitja. Monografija ob bok odraslim sogovornikom postavi predšolske otroke. Tako predstavi kompleksnost družbenega življenja v najzgodnejši dobi in podaja nov pogled na to, kako se oblikuje kulturno pogojeno razumevanje dela in igre ter kako se vzpostavlja odnos med njima.

Héritière de la tradition des voyages, des découvertes et explorations - des conquêtes aussi -, l'ethnologie est une discipline jeune mais qui n'a cessé de redessiner les frontières de son territoire d'étude. Si son champ d'analyse s'est longtemps limité aux sociétés dites " primitives ", laissant à d'autres disciplines le soin d'élaborer une connaissance du monde occidental moderne, les transformations politiques et sociales radicales du XXe siècle l'ont conduite à une profonde remise en cause de son approche, au point que fut parfois claironnée la " fin de l'ethnologie "... Aujourd'hui pourtant, le regard de l'ethnologue en se portant sur de nouvelles thématiques n'a rien perdu de son acuité car il interroge le " vivre ensemble " : comment se construisent et se disent des manières d'être ensemble ? Comment des individus se reconnaissent-ils en des collectifs distincts les uns des autres ?

Over the last decades, several different renewal movements within Christianity have had a strong impact on Melanesian societies and cultures. Even though these societies have shown a great desire for total transformation, they have in their transformative acts come across an insurmountable obstacle: a firm bond between their way of being and places, where their being has been realised. The Ambonwari people of the East Sepik Province of Papua New Guinea have faced the same problem since the Catholic charismatic movement reached the village in December 1994. Their cosmology and social organization have always been inseparable from their paths (journeys of ancestors, marriages, exchanges, adoptions) and places (old and new villages, fishing and hunting places, taboo places), and their historicity was primarily perceived and defined in terms of individual and group relations to particular named locations in tropical rainforest. As times are tightly intertwined with places, temporalities in the landscape are also possessed, seen and held by individuals and groups. The book ('Places and Times in a New Guinean Landscape') argues that it is this multiplicity of emplaced and embodied temporalities that troubles them most in their ongoing attempts to modify their life-world. Različna prenovitvena gibanja v krščanstvu so v zadnjih desetletjih močno vplivala na melanezijske družbe in kulture. Čeprav imajo te družbe veliko željo po popolni transformaciji, naletijo v svojih prenovitvenih dejanjih na nepremostljivo oviro: trdno vez med načinom bivanja in kraji, kjer se to bivanje udejanja. Ljudje iz vasi Ambonwari v provinci Vzhodni Sepik na Papui Novi Gvineji se soočajo z enakim problemom, odkar je katoliško karizmatično gibanje decembra 1994 prišlo v vas. Njihova kozmologija in družbena organiziranost sta bili od nekdaj neločljivi od poti (migracij prednikov, porok, izmenjav, posvojitev) in krajev (starih in novih vasi, krajev, kjer ribarijo in lovijo, prepovedanih krajev), njihovo zgodovinskost pa je od nekdaj določal predvsem odnos posameznikov in skupin do posameznih poimenovanih lokacij sredi deževnega gozda. Ker so časi tesno prepleteni s kraji, si v pokrajino umeščene časovnosti posamezniki in skupine tudi lastijo, jih vidijo in se jih lahko dotaknejo. Knjiga zagovarja tezo, da je ravno mnogoterost utelešenih krajevnih časovnosti tista, ki jim pri nenehnih poskusih preoblikovanja življenjskega sveta povzroča največje težave.
