Op vele tientallen plaatsen in Vlaanderen zitten momenteel werkgroepen rond de tafel te brainstormen over de toekomst van hun kerk. En of het nu om een bescheiden dorps- of een indrukwekkende stadskerk gaat, om een modernistische Sint-Jozefs- of om een beschermde Onze Lieve Vrouwkerk ? het discours rond de tafel is vrij gelijklopend. Velen (her)ontdekken de kracht en de potenties van het kerkgebouw. Publieke functies als schoolrefter, gemeenschapscentrum, kinderopvang, toeristisch onthaal of bibliotheek zijn dan ook gedroomde wensbeelden voor de toekomst van een kerkgebouw. Soms zijn ook commerciële partners welkom om een levensvatbaar project te kunnen garanderen: foyer van een woonzorgcentrum, een medische groepspraktijk, open vergaderruimtes?Met deze publicatie willen we u mee van deze zoektocht naar bezielende toekomstmogelijkheden voor parochiekerken laten genieten. We nodigden 15 opdrachtgevers en ontwerpers uit om hun intenties en plannen voor de toekomst van hun kerkgebouwen te laten zien. De ontwerpers zetten de lezer op het spoor van andere interessante - vaak buitenlandse - herbestemmingsprojecten waarin ze dezelfde gedrevenheid, visie en gevoeligheid herkennen waardoor deze publicatie een echt inspiratiewerk wordt.Bron: http://www.politeia.be/nl-be/book/de-deuren-gaan-open/16220.htm

La Chapelle des Brigittines offre, depuis plus de vingt ans, une plate-forme aux arts vivants : danse, musique, théâtre, arts visuels. Lieu de retraite, de dépouillement, d'isolement, espace de recherche, d'expression, de création, les Brigittines, c'est aussi, depuis quelques années, l'histoire d'une rencontre entre les arts de la scéne, la littérature et la musique. Les éditions des Brigittines viennent ainsi prolonger le mouvement de la scéne et concourent à une circulation des idées créatrices quel que soit leur mode d'expression. De la plume à la note, les univers singuliers se répondent. Couleurs, sonorités, idées, voies... la musique, elle aussi, a trouvé échos aux Brigittines. En témoignent : les deux premiers C.D. Uccello captant la scansion du Déluge, depuis une perspective à l'envers dont le point de fuite devient la source d'un souffle, d'une rafale, d'une déflagration. Rabelais jubilant des massacres de la guerre picrocholine, des corps démembrés, violentés, des anatomies fracassées. Villon criminel notoire, de même que le Caravage, ou Gesualdo - et l'on sent, dans leurs œuvres, l'odeur du sang, le souvenir des coups de poignards réels. Most of the buildings that will be needed in Europe in the coming decades have long since been built. The building tasks of the future lie in the skillful reuse and transformation of existing building stock, whether it be the redevelopment of historic city centers, the building of extensions onto residential structures, the expansion of public buildings, or the redevelopment of entire factory areas. Building in the existing fabric calls for highly specific approaches in planning, construction, and implementation. It spans a broad range of building tasks, from working within the guidelines of historic preservation and renovating carefully and cautiously all the way to the complete transformation of what exists. In addition to aesthetic transformation, technical aspects such as improving energy efficiency and working with contaminated building materials also play an important role. This book provides a comprehensive overview of architectonic strategies of continuing to build. It presents intelligent ideas and approaches for working with existing building stock and divides them into three categories according to the method selected: addition, transformation, and reuse. Presented in this volume are everyday projects such as the revitalizing of structures from the 1950s to the 1970s - for example, the renovation of Siedlung Heuried in Zurich by Adrian Streich Architekten - but also more specialized examples such as the open-air library made of elements recycled from the façade of a department store in Magdeburg-Salbke by Karo* Architekten. Interviews with experts provide helpful background information on selected topics.
