Den einen geht es vor allem um die Konstruktion kultureller Grenzziehung, den anderen eher um die Erforschung der sozialen und kulturellen Folgeerscheinungen. Die einen betonen das kreative Potential kultureller Differenz, die anderen nehmen vor allem die Vorurteilsproblematik und die Gefahr rassistischer Ausgrenzung in den Blick.
