Selon Martino Gamper, "Il n'y a pas de design parfait et pas de über-design. Les objets nous parlent personnellement. Certains pourraient être plus fonctionnels que d'autres, et l'attachement émotionnel est très individuel". Il y a une dizaine d'années, le créateur de meubles d'origine italienne basé à Londres a lancé son projet, 100 Chairs in 100 Days. Il a fait une nouvelle chaise par jour pendant cent jours en collant ensemble des morceaux de chaises qu'il a trouvés jetés dans la rue ou chez des amis. En mélangeant des éléments stylistiques et structurels, il a généré des hybrides pervers, poétiques et humoristiques. Le projet a combiné des questions formelles et fonctionnelles avec des questions sociologiques et sémiologiques. Ou, comme l'a dit Gamper: "Qu'advient-il du statut et du potentiel d'une chaise de jardin en plastique lorsqu'elle est recouverte de daim jaune luxueux?" Le projet était d’être créatif, mais dans des limites - étant limité aux matériaux disponibles et au temps disponible, avec l'exigence que chaque nouvelle chaise soit unique. Le «carnet de croquis en trois dimensions» de Gamper lui a valu une reconnaissance internationale. Le projet a été exposé à Londres en 2007, à la Triennale de Milan en 2009 et au Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, San Francisco, en 2010. Pour notre spectacle, quatre-vingt-dix-neuf chaises du projet original ont été prêtées par Nina Yashar, de Galerie Nilufar, Milan. Alors qu'il était en Nouvelle-Zélande pour installer le spectacle, Gamper a fait une nouvelle centième chaise spécialement pour notre spectacle. et au Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, San Francisco, en 2010. Pour notre exposition, 99 chaises du projet original ont été prêtées par Nina Yashar, de la Nilufar Gallery, Milan. Alors qu'il était en Nouvelle-Zélande pour installer le spectacle, Gamper a fait une nouvelle centième chaise spécialement pour notre spectacle. Et au Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, San Francisco, en 2010.

Chair Anatomy reveals in photos and illustrations the form and the construction details – the anatomy – of a selection of fifty chairs chosen from the last 150 years of modern chair design. It also introduces the designers behind these chairs, their backgrounds and their routes to creating the chairs. Fulton explores the full scope of the available literary and archaeological evidence, reinterpreting the development of trebuchet technology and the ways in which it was used during this period. Among the arguments put forward, Fulton challenges the popular perception that the invention of the counterweight trebuchet was responsible for the dramatic transformation in the design of fortifications around the start of the thirteenth century.
