Situés dans la province volcanique de Virunga, la ville de Goma et ses environs sont sous un risque permanent d’éruption volcanique. Ce risque est le résultat de la combinaison entre leur grande proximité avec des volcans classés parmi les plus actifs au monde (le Nyiragongo et le Nyamulagira) et l’évolution galopante de la population. Dans un vaste cadre de réduction des risques et de catastrophes naturelles dans la région, nous proposons dans cette étude une nouvelle technique de surveillance sismique pour améliorer la capacité de l’Observatoire Volcanologique de Goma doté d’un réseau de 14 stations large bande. Cette méthode, basée sur l’analyse des rapports d’amplitudes sismique (SARA) par paire de stations, permet de mettre en évidence des migrations des sources sismiques en faisant l’hypothèse d’une vitesse et d’une atténuation demeurant constantes lors de la migration magmatique. SARA a déjà été utilisé pour le suivi des éruptions magmatiques et phréatiques sur 3 zones volcaniques dans le monde. Son application dans la Province des Virunga en utilisant les trémors volcaniques de basses fréquences (0.3 à 1 Hz) a permis de mettre en évidence de petites et de grandes variations d’amplitudes, toutes associées à des migrations magmatiques liées à 3 évènements distincts. Deux événements (EvMA et EvMB) sont associés à une phase importante de changement de dynamique éruptive au Nyamulagira. La troisième (EvMC) est associé à une intrusion latérale profonde ayant comme conséquence le siphonage du lac de lave de Nyiragongo à un niveau record de près de 100m. A ce stade, les paires de stations sismiques les mieux adaptées pour suivre la situation magmatique sur le Nyiragongo avec SARA est la paire de station de RSY et KBTI, tandis que les paires impliquant les stations de RGB, TGO et KTSH sont les mieux indiquées pour la surveillance du volcan Nyamulagira.
