Este libro se sitúa a caballo entre los dos debates intelectuales sobre el papel de la violencia en los estudios sobre juventud y sobre el papel de la cultura en los estudios sobre violencia. Su primera virtud es vincular dialécticamente las concepciones de muerte con las concepciones de vida, pues no es posible desarmar la violencia (desarmar la muerte) sin rearmar la vida (sin dotar de sentido al combate por la no violencia). Serrano busca las huellas de este “buscarse la vida” de los jóvenes colombianos (más precisamente bogotanos) en su lucha cotidiana y las conecta con la expresión explosiva del “buscarse la muerte” como símbolo y metáfora de una cultura de la violencia en proceso de fosilización. La originalidad de esta obra reside en el intento de conectar tres ejes temáticos a menudo contrapuestos: religiosidad, consumo cultural y violencia. Rechazando las explicaciones simplistas de la violencia juvenil, busca explicaciones holísticas más complejas, entrelazando factores como la “saturación de significaciones” (y la correspondiente individualización de la experiencia religiosa), el “fetichismo” del consumo cultural (y las estéticas oscuras correspondientes que sirven para vender más y sacralizar la muerte) y la “trivialización” de la violencia (y la correspondiente metamorfosis de la agresividad enjuego). Por último, cierra el círculo de la conexión entre concepciones de vida y muerte como mapas vitales, explicando así el significado de la frase: “Menos querer más de la vida”.

This book addresses domestic abuse and stalking among young people in the UK and Ireland, with a focus on intersectionality and lifestyle settings. In partnership with the Alice Ruggles Trust, this book draws on a wealth of expert contributions including those with lived experience, frontline services such as Paladin National Stalking Advocacy Service, charities EmilyTest and Hollie Gazzard Trust, researchers of so-called honour-based abuse and online harms, and forensic psychologists who work with people who stalk. 'Jongeren en geweld' is een thema dat niet zelden aanleiding geeft tot ongerustheid en verhitte discussies. Media, politici en wetenschappers besteden ruim aandacht aan het fenomeen. Jongeren komen hierbij in hoofdzaak als probleem in beeld. Bovendien lijkt de overtuiging dat jongeren steeds gewelddadiger worden algemeen aanvaard. Als antwoord op die maatschappelijke bezorgdheid worden door beleidsmakers allerlei initiatieven genomen, zowel preventief als repressief. De mening dat jongerengeweld de laatste jaren is toegenomen, is echter zelden gestoeld op een wetenschappelijk onderbouwde analyse. Bovendien wordt in het debat de mening en perceptie van jongeren zelf niet of onvoldoende betrokken

This book presents a detailed and updated review of the widespread changes that take place during adolescence, adopting a preventive perspective that reflects physical, social, cognitive, and emotional changes. It addresses a broad range of aspects, including: the preventive programs and their systemic effects; the role of environment in influencing the healthy behaviors of adolescents and young adults; the use of e-Health technology in health and behavioral interventions for adolescents; and the clinical and prognostic implications of primordial prevention in healthy adolescents.
