Mal 2:10 is a difficult text, subjected to many interpretations. Our investigation has detected the unity of thought of the pericope, centered on a question that troubled the judaic society in the time of the prophet: the chouice of several Jews to marry foreign women. The prophet not only denounces the serious religious dangers of this conduct, but also the consequences of this attitude: to marry foreign women the jews repudiated the legitimate Jewish wives, doing in this way a shameful wring. He thus offers a direct criticism to a legal practice (Deut 24:1-4).
