Les Routes de la soie forment des systèmes qui sont parmi les plus fascinants et les plus complexes de l’histoire des civilisations du monde. À travers ce réseau changeant de routes et de voies commerciales, évoluant au fil des siècles, se sont échangées des marchandises telles que la soie, les épices, les pierres précieuses et les fourrures. Mais ces routes ont aussi permis le partage et la dissémination de l’art, de la religion et de la technologie. Elles sont l’un des premiers "corridors" culturels inscrits sur la Liste du patrimoine mondial, incarnant les principes de diversité culturelle, de patrimoine et de coopération pacifique soutenus par l’UNESCO et la Convention du patrimoine mondial. En 2014, après des années de préparation dans les pays, les Routes de la soie : le Réseau de routes du corridor Chang’an-Tianshan a été inscrit sur la Liste du patrimoine mondial.
